Introduction to Better Photography

Hey there! I'm so glad you're here. Whether you stumbled on this page while searching for a photographer or you’ve been following my work for a while, welcome. This is the beginning of something beautiful.

I’m Michael DErrico, the face behind Better Photography, based in Plymouth, Massachusetts. I’m a self-taught photographer, a proud dog dad, an iced coffee enthusiast, and someone who believes that the best moments in life aren’t posed. They’re real, messy, emotional, and full of meaning.

Photography has always been a part of my life, but it wasn’t until I picked up a camera with intention that I realized it was my thing. With the unwavering support of my fiancée and our two pups, I dove headfirst into learning everything I could. A mentorship with my best friend, hours of practice, trial and error, and eventually building my own editing style. It was never just about taking a pretty picture. It was about telling stories. About freezing the feelings we’re scared might fade.

That’s what Better Photography is all about.

I photograph weddings, couples, boudoir, portraits, and more. And while those categories might seem broad, they all come back to one thing: connection. Whether it's the way someone laughs when their partner whispers something sweet or the quiet confidence that blooms during a boudoir session, I live for those real moments. The kind you don’t even realize are happening until you see the photo and say, "Wow. That’s me."

My sessions are laid-back and focused on helping you feel completely comfortable. Because I truly believe the best photos happen when you're not trying to perform. I give you light guidance when you need it, but I also encourage a lot of movement, laughter, and just being present in the moment. If you're goofy, bring it. If you're shy, that's okay too. My job is to make the camera feel like it disappears so you can just be you.

Over time, Better Photography has become more than just a business. It’s become a space where people come to feel seen, celebrated, and comfortable in their skin.
